千葉 亀山湖

Chiba, Lake Kameyama

November 26, 2024

I went kayaking to Kameyama Lake in Chiba Prefecture, hoping to catch the autumn foliage.

Kameyama Lake is popular as a spot where you can easily enjoy kayaking and SUP, due to its excellent accessibility, being just over an hour from the city center.

While rental boat shops and piers for bass fishermen are scattered around the lake, the only launching point for personal kayaks/SUPs is Kameyamakohan Park (Sasa Area).

Naturally, many paddlers gather there, and on autumn weekends, the parking lot can become full, so it's recommended to go early in the morning. The parking lot has restrooms.

After assembling your kayak in a convenient spot near the parking lot, head to the launching point, which is about a 1-2 minute walk away.

The launching point is stepped, making it easy to launch regardless of water levels, but be careful not to slip and fall on moss or other slippery surfaces.

Once ready, it's time to cruise.

On this day, the temperature dropped, and mist hung over the lake, creating a magical atmosphere.

Although the conditions made me want to put down my paddle and focus on taking photos, there are also bass fishing boats and sightseeing boats on the lake, so be mindful of your surroundings and navigate so as not to obstruct each other.

Also, fishing from private kayaks/SUPs is prohibited, so please strictly adhere to this rule.

The autumn leaves... were a bit early, and only slightly colored.

Nevertheless, with its intricate topography, the red bridge over the lake, and the torii gate of Kameyama Suiten-gu Shrine, the lake offered many attractions and was thoroughly enjoyable.

Those in the city can enjoy a quick day trip due to its good accessibility, and for those who want to play to their heart's content, there are campsites and RV parks nearby for overnight stays.

By the way, we moved to Inagasaki Auto Campground, about a 10-minute drive from Kameyama Lake, and filmed for new products scheduled to be released next season.

Since you've read this far, here's a sneak peek.

New SUP models

PFD Dyneema® models

... and more.

Next season, we are developing new gear, mainly for water activities.

Stay tuned for the release!
